Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of which anyone of catechetical age is inititated into the Catholic Church.  It is a journey of faith for those wishing to be baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.

Baptism is the first sacrament of Initiation.  It is "the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213).  Confirmation completes Baptism and seals the recipient with the Holy Spirit and confers the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
